Good tips. I learned the ice pack hack when my kids were younger & still keep a few prepped in the freezer. A jeweler taught me the toothpaste trick years ago & it really does work.
The toothpaste tricks works best when it’s more baking soda based rather than the smooth more gel like kind.
@Wise Force Yes, paste rather than gel. Also, if you want to clean copper (like copper based pans etc.) and make it look like new, Worcestershire sauce does a great job. Depending on the item and area, swish it over or gently soak. Wash off carefully afterwards and rinse clean of course.
Thanks for the tips. Especially the nail polish hack. The first coat always dries fine but the second coat always gets imprints from blankets, socks whatever…even if I wait hours before going to bed or putting socks on!
What’s the tip?
@J alley Tips, hacks, whichever you choose it’s all the same.
@C I think you misunderstood the question lol they weren’t asking what’s a tip they said what’s the tip as in what tip is this comment talking about.
@Cindy B I’ve tried that and it hasn’t worked for me even the quick dry oil the other person mentioned. 😅I just had terrible luck I guess.
@Deborah Wallace I specifically looked up Revlon Quick Dry and finally found some! That is the best! I think it’s just mineral oil but the other quick dries out there are top coats and smell to high heaven! Only Revlon for me! That is, when I paint my nails! I too forget and end up using an SOS pad or something else just as destructive!
Remember that to disinfect with alcohol it must be 70% or higher… also it needs to dry on its own so don’t wipe the surface dry or you have simply cleaned it not disinfected it.
Higher than 70% dries too fast to disinfect.
My two biochemist friends say 64% to 70%. Google it. 👍
What Bridgette said…
I remember using 70% ethanol to spray down lab and equipment and let it air dry when I used to work in microbiology/biochem lab
I love cleaning hacks, I saw a couple on here that I didn’t know about and several I had forgotten. Thanks for sharing. Janice, Tn
I always read the comments too so I can see what people add!
WARNING: Always protect the surface your working on. Alcohol will leave a white spot on varnish, it is flammable and it may damage certain surfaces such as delicate fabrics.. It is always a good idea to test in a inconspicuous spot first. : D
Be very careful using alcohol on computer screens. Most manufacturers do not recommend. perhaps a diluted method.
The costume departments in theatre productions use vodka spray between dry cleanings. Different kind of alcohol, so perhaps it’s safer.

FYI, for crayon you can also use a hair dryer to melt the crayon and then wipe it away.
That’s a great idea
Use a warmish iron to pull crayon out of fabric. Place a piece of brown paper sack under fabric and between fabric and iron. It pulls the wax from the fabric into the aper sack.
WD-49 takes crayon stains out of carpets.
@Craig Baker oh boy I used this method for wax on berber carpet 22 years ago. I had remembered hearing something to that effect.. panicking I rushed had to fast parent was coming home lol long story short I burned the carpet (also used a towel vs paper bag🤦♀️
@Craig Baker same thing if u spill candle wax!
Very useful hacks. My vacuum gets tons of hair caught because of our long hair. I use a seam ripper to cut the hairs off the rollers. It cuts tough the hairs easier.
very good idea! thank you!
awesome idea!!!
Great idea I’m going to try that
I thought I was the only nut case doing this with a seam ripper. Thanks for validation that at least I wasn’t the only one.
What do you do for that
I had renters that had never cleaned anything for five years. I honestly didn’t know if cleaning it was even possible, gasoline and matches seemed more realistic. One of the cleaning hacks that I did have huge success with was using toilet cleaner on the grout between the ceramic tiles in the bathrooms. The results were amazing and the bathroom floors honestly looked brand new. (The carpet and kitchen floors didn’t fare as well and had to be replaced. I will NEVER rent again!)
It pisses me off to hear u had nasty renters. It seems I always come in behind them and the landlord Jack’s up the rent. I’m an adult and grateful to have a place. When I leave the place is better then when I move in. Bless ur heart. Sorry u had to go through that. It hard to find something decent and not over priced.
@Tracy Bottom thank you Tracy for your compassion. May God bless you with a safe, clean, and cozy place to call home.
Thank-you Michelle, I do too. It’s almost time to start gardening in Ky. and I am iching to dig in the dirt.
@Tracy Bottom Haha… you sound just like my daughter. It will be here soon enough. 🙂
We got the fever
Similar to the grout trick in the video, if you don’t have the gel cleaner, I had a friend teach me to line the grout with bleach ( & water) soaked paper towels and just let them sit there and allow the bleach to do it’s thing. Come back to it and brush it clean as he did in the video.
@Gina Wussow Not really. The person I know who did this would turn on vent and fan it, and walk away. The bleach would be diluted.
@Tough Times How does one seal the grout?
@Cynthia Honorio There are a couple kinds of sealers. Penetrating which keeps moisture out and membrane, which don’t allow water to come out, so aren’t good for bathrooms but ok for kitchens. I used a sponge, for glazed tiles, just apply to grout lines. Vinegar (White) is also good for cleaning the grout, just takes a bit more elbow grease.
@Cynthia Honorio I would also apply 2 coats to make sure it’s fully sealed 😉 Hubby just said they also make spray grout sealer btw.
Do NOT use red Koolaid in your toilet. It can stain the bowl. Like dumping red wine on white carpet and leaving it.
Yeah out of all the things you could use to change the color kool-aid would be the last thing to use
Use blue kool aid then blue urinal toilet cake
Couple drops basic food coloring works and washes away.
@PATTY Petty ok
Grape koolAid works as a great grease remover for the top of your oven; also doubles as dishwasher cleaner, and washing machine cleaner. Also; koolAid and wine come out of white things with barbesol, or bleach… FYI The more u know…
Thanks for the fork tip for hanging pictures, how many times I’ve struggled.
And the graphite tip for locks😀
both of those caught my eye as well! and the grout one as well! Ya gotta be careful tho, I tried one that said to try using turtle wax on grout in the shower to keep it from getting, well, you know. It works but it was really hard to get the colour out!
That fork trick 🤯🤯🤯
The frustration & sore arms I can now avoid from repeated attempts to “catch” the frame on the hook, sing hallelujah 🙌
that tip is older than I am , just like all of these
The best trick for getting deodorant off your clothes is by rubbing with dry pantyhose or knee-hi’s. It doesn’t stretch the area out, doesn’t leave any fiber transfer like with a cloth, and takes only seconds. Thank you for the rest of the tips! I just made the essential oil spray.
good afternoon Amy. how are you doing, hope you are having a great day.
Best trick I ever learned is 100% fool-proof! Rub the deo marks with the same piece of fabric/clothing and it will disappear.
Remember, that if you use Dawn to remove stains, lower the amount of laundry soap you use.
Or rinse in the sink after. Before you wash. If you are using regular powdered laundry soaps you can make a paste with water put area of clothing to be soaked in to a bowl and pour the paste and let sit over night wash the next day. Don’t dry clothes that have a stain until you check to see it the stain is gone. Use Vinegar in your towels instead of fabric softener. You can even pour some on a clean wash cloth and use it like a dryer sheet. Just keep using the same wash cloth. I have white ones just for that. Colored ones for washing you. Also keeps your washer and dryer from smelling stinky.
I’ve always put a dime size or less of baking soda in my boys shoes. Takes the smell right out! And keeps it good for a week or so.
I didn’t know toothpaste had so many uses!
The only thing I’d use toothpaste for was if I got a pimple. I tried everything u can think of to help with my pimples. The only thing that worked was dabbing a tiny bit of toothpaste on it after a shower. It burned but it was always gone the next day!
Thanks for the tips!
I have tried out the toilet bowl cleaner on cleaning the grout and it does work. I also used it on the shower walls. I had great tenants so ckeaning was not a huge issue since they were very clean.
I had a house that I rented out to a family of 4. They lived there for 18yrs and I can honestly say that I never had a problem with their rent. The man was always on time with the rent. His wife took good care of the house and property. They moved out when they bought a house. I was heartbroken to see them go but happy for them.
I know not every person that rents out property gets good tenants. I was lucky.
I now rent that same house to an elderly couple and one pet.
It’s very sad when some renters who destroy property by not cleaning and adding junk around the outside or inside the property really mess it up for other people.
All I can say to property owners who rent is to be on your toes and always check your properties. It’s your most valued investment.
My parents house was rented to a couple who destroyed the house. Literally destroyed. Had animals, dogs, cats, a pig, living inside. It took 5- 20ft dumpsters to clean out the mess. They destroyed every bathroom. Every wall. Every light fixture. Every wall.

Hey, here’s a toilet “tip” that might help some people.
If you have a toilet/toilet tank that won’t stop “sweating” (regardless if the tank is insulated or not) you can get an anti-sweat valve from your local hardware/plumbing store.
It has a hot and a cold inlet and a mixed outlet. The temperature of the water can be adjusted, so you don’t melt your wax seal.
I think the rubber glove would work to remove pet hair from fabric without using the stick hairspray – I wouldn’t want the residue on the textiles.
I wonder if silver polish would be safer for your silverware over the long run.
Hairspray also works well on ink-stained fabric, especially if treated quickly and before washing the garment.
Magic erasers are also great for removing marks from painted surfaces.
I have always used hairspray for ink stains and you’re right about Magic Erasers working on markers!
Lots of stuff is good for cleaning silver and brass. VO5 is one silver cleaner and the pamphlet inside tells all the other uses for VO5. Using Dawn dish detergent, a copper brush cleans brass without leaving scratch marks. The brass ashtrays I have come out beautifully.
Been using hair spray for ink stains on mens’ shirts, etc., for over 40 years!
For the grout cleaner, the hard work is brushing all over with the toothbrush, you could actually.just use warm water and you’d get the same result. Btw Vim clorex powder is the best for it, as it is grainy and has whitening agent which will clean up better and faster than toilet bowl liquid.
Congratulations on the success of your channel, these are the kind of videos that have mass appeal. So many uses for toothpaste, it’s also great for cleaning headlights.
For the air freshener, I’ve always poured fabric softener with a little bit of water to dilute it and it smells amazing!
